Centre Update: Following Amicus withdrawing plans to develop the site back in July

Rye Partnership are delighted that the centre is once again becoming a busy community hub with new hirers, Odi Fitness, Rother Youth Group, Evening computer classes (run by Rye Internet Café), Spiritualist Academy, Ingeus UK (National Diabetic Program), Counselling Plus Community now making use of the centre.  The regular users, Seated Exercise Group, Singing for Well Being, Health In Mind, Muddlers Craft Group, Tilling Green Art & Craft Group, Feet First chiropody, Amicus (fortnightly), Quakers, East Sussex Young Carers, Tilling Green Residents Association, Rye Labour Party, ARRCC, 1066 Photography Club and Recycle Swap Shop are continuing to use the centre.  The hall is often used for children’s parties at weekends.

Tilling Green Update 27th July 2016

Rye Partnership were disappointed to hear formally today that Amicus Horizon have decided a scheme to build 22 houses and a new community centre is not now possible and therefore they have decided not to proceed with their plans.

The Rye Partnership will continue to operate the existing centre whilst discussions with East Sussex County Council and Rother District Council continue on the plans and next steps.

We will keep people informed as things progress.

Rye Partnership Press Release

The Directors of The Rye Partnership are disappointed to see the long awaited plans for much needed housing and Community Centre for the Tilling Green School site withdrawn whilst understanding the reasons, this inevitably will result in a further delay.

Ian Ross the Partnership Director who has been leading the work with Amicus Horizon  said “We at  The Rye Partnership are committed to the development and are extremely keen to see a new Community Centre on the site hence our work over these last six years in creating an appetite for such a facility. Our main concern is to retain the integrity and viability of the new centre
